About

Matthew James Kozik, Esq.

As a young professional, Matthew James Kozik moved to Washington, D.C., attending school at a historically black college and university and working on both sides of the political aisle, in the United States Senate and on presidential campaigns. After nearly a decade of living in the nation’s capital, Mr. Matthew James felt it was time to serve his country in uniform, joining the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

As an active-duty Army Judge Advocate, being stationed all around the world, Attorney Matthew James earned distinguished military awards such as the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist Badge. During his time on active duty, Mr. Kozik served as a trial attorney in some of the Army’s busiest criminal jurisdictions, litigating countless cases involving drugs, rape, sex assault, domestic violence, aggravated assault, attempted murder, and financial crimes, achieving favorable outcomes as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. Mr. Kozik served over a decade in uniform.

After leaving active duty, Mr. Kozik established his firm, The Matthew James, Attorney At Law, to utilize years of leadership and litigation experience and build an organization focused on quality representation in complex litigation cases. Mr. Matthew James focuses on Texas 1st Degree felony matters and complex felony cases within the Western District of Texas while also ensuring those seeking immigration relief are well represented.
